What is Hybrid Car Technology.
The word “hybrid” has Greek roots and means “from two origins”. Accordingly, a hybrid vehicle obtains
its energy from two different sources and therefore has more than one drive system: generally, an
electric motor and an internal combustion engine – usually with gasoline as fuel; diesel is less
common. The aim of a hybrid drive is to combine the advantages of both drive systems and balance out
their disadvantages.

A full hybrid or ‘parallel hybrid’ uses both the combustion engine and electric motors to drive the
car, either simultaneously or independently. The most common type of hybrid vehicle, full hybrids can
typically hold small amounts of electric charge.
What is hybrid car and how does it work?
Quite simply, a hybrid combines at least one electric motor with a gasoline engine to move the car,
and its system recaptures energy via regenerative braking. Sometimes the electric motor does all the
work, sometimes it’s the gas engine, and sometimes they work together.
What is hybrid technology in cars?
Hybrid electric vehicles are powered by an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors,
which uses energy stored in batteries. A hybrid electric vehicle cannot be plugged in to charge the
battery. Instead, the battery is charged through regenerative braking and by the internal combustion
engine.
